My Favorite Hobby

Day 19- A talent/hobby

I’m pretty amazed at myself for having made it this far through 30 Days About Me! Have you joined in on the fun? Stop over at Toni’s and check out the other participants!
30 Days About Me

The hobby that I practice the most is photography. Photography is what got me interested in blogging, and blogging is why I am here! You can see my photography from over the past few years on my Photos by MAK blog.

I always loved taking pictures, however, our time living in Orlando gave me so many opportunities to do what I loved. There was so much to see and do that cost us little out of pocket (since we had annual passes to Sea World and Disney), so while Tara had fun on the rides, I had fun finding different perspectives on the things around us. Wildlife was a bit more interesting there too – alligators, turtles, armadillos, and more types of birds than I can name!

There were times when Tara said I liked my camera more than her! I feel over the past few months, I have not engaged in this hobby as much as I like. I have been feeling less than inspired. I need that one good event or outing to get my inspiration back.

I have tried many crafts over the years. I have completed quite a few counted cross stitch pieces. That required total concentration and once I was a mom, I never felt I had enough uninterrupted time! I still have pieces I would like to complete (before the fabric turns to dust!)

I’m just not a really “crafty” artistic person I guess. I admire people who can pick up a piece of fabric, or a bowl from a flea market and make something cool!

I like to cook too, but lately I’m uninspired in that area as well. That has more to do with the people in my household. Two different ends of the spectrum when it comes to likes and dislikes of food!

I’m beginning to think that “social media” is my new hobby!

What do you do in your spare time that makes you happy?

I love to take pictures too.. which I’m sure we have discussed before. I must say, I to have not been taking as many as I would like lately. For one reason or another, i do not feel inspired either. I did enter 3 pictures into the local fair this year… I didn’t place, but it gave me incentive to try and find some good subjects to take pictures over the next year. I would like to have the goal of trying to place next year. It was fun, and exciting to be anxious to see what the judges thought to. πŸ™‚

I am in hopes to have enough money this year, to get the SLR camera I want. Still researching to see what is out there, and what would be a good selection for me. If you have any.. I welcome them! πŸ™‚

Hope you have a good week, and the inspiration comes back to you soon. Your pictures are good, I enjoy looking at them!

Oh wow…pick a hobby, and I have probably tried it! Crochet, cross stitch, oil painting, watercolors, pen and ink, pencil drawing, I was a professional woodcarver for more than 15 years, airbrushing…the list goes on. My problem is finding time and inspiration…although my mom recently started taking a painting class, and I think the creative bug has been by to visit a time or two, lol.

I love taking photos too and wish I had a better camera to do the many things I want to do. I would also love to learn how to work my photoshop elements that I have had for 2 years now and have done NOTHING with it.

  4. I enjoy taking pictures but am certain I am not super good at it. I do what it takes to take an okay picture. When it comes to indoors I am not good a lighting so that get discouraging. And i my house my husband doesn’t like ANY cheese, cream cheese, yellow cheese etc, it keeps cooking from being creative too.
