Sky Watch Friday – Animal Kingdom

“May green be the grass you walk on, may BLUE BE THE SKIES above you, may pure be the joys that surround you, may true be the hearts that love you!”

Sky Watch Friday just about wraps up my month long photo tour of Walt Disney World, all I am left with is Camera Critters tomorrow! Please click on the button to see other sky shots from around the globe!

Animal Kingdom does not provide much in the way of dramatic sky views, we were lucky enough to have timed our trips there on nice sunny days, and they were not open after dark, so no night time shots are fire works.

This was one of my favorite photos from Animal Kindom. Lucky the giant dinosaur who looks over Dinoland, appears to be checking out Expedition Everest too!

The Tree of Life is a massive fourteen story (145 ft.) tall artificial tree that has been the icon of Animal Kingdom since it opened on on 4/22/1998. Engineered from a refitted oil platform it is located in the center of the park. On the exterior of it are carved images of three hundred twenty-five animals. Inside the Tree of Life is It’s Tough to be a Bug!, a 3-D film hosted by Flik, from A Bug’s Life.

Expedition Everest – the newest ride in Animal Kingdom, one that I never rode, Tara however, would ride it multiple times in one day. She would use the single rider line and was able to get on pretty quickly that way.

I am continuing my tour of Disney World parks this week, with the final park, Animal Kingdom. I’m also continuing with my then and now photos.

2003 Tara and Baloo (scanned photo) – This was on our first time ever Disney vacation, just months before we moved to Orlando)

2006 – Tara with Baloo! He was always a fun character to see!

As Tara got older, standing in line for a photo with the characters really started to get old for her, so in 2009, during our final visit to Animal Kingdom as Florida residents, I was so lucky to get her to pose with a character we had never seen before, Gov. Radcliffe (from the movie Pocahontas). Also with her is Meeko, from the same movie.
Someone asked if Tara was holding a book in her hand in each photo, and yes, she is. Those are the books we used to get autographs of the characters. We have several of them filled with our over 100 characters.
