Song-ography – Photograph

Time really flies when you are having fun  working! I was doing a really good job posting regularly on one or the other or both of my blogs and then EIGHT DAYS STRAIGHT of work got in my way.  After the 5th… my ambition just hits that wall! I just had a three day weekend, but I pretty much just hibernated for those days. Tara is away visiting her boyfriend and his family, so I have had some quiet time to myself!

I am going to jump right back in with  Song-ography for this week. I have really come to LOVE these weekly songs as prompts for sharing photographs. Is “meme” still the correct term to use for such things?

This week’s song is Photograph by Nickleback. I can’t say I ever heard this song, and I really enjoyed listening to it!

The lyrics definitely make me think of the years Tara and I lived in Florida, and the occasional pangs of “homesickness” for that life. It was different then… almost (almost) like a 6 year vacation, after all we lived less than one hour from Disney World, we had a pool of our own, and we lived 1000 miles from family. There are days now that I wish we had that life back, but others I am very thankful that we are living back “home” close to family!

“Look at this photograph
Every time I do it makes me laugh
How did our eyes get so red?
And what the hell is on Joey’s head?”

She will kill me if she sees that I posted this.

A little more recent (2012) when she had bright pink hair that garnered many comments. Plus James Cassells of Asking Alexandria is REALLY HOT!

I hope you enjoyed my trip down memory lane at the expense of my beautiful and funny daughter, and my interpretation of Photograph by Nickleback.

Camera Critters – White as Snow!

“Throwback” Photos from Busch Gardens Tampa.

I hope every one is having a wonderful weekend! I worked today, and work tomorrow (Sunday) as well. Looking forward to having Monday off!

Camera Critters>
Two of my favorite “critters” when we visited just happened to be white.

White Tigers – I just wanted to bring him/her home! So stunningly gorgeous with the blue eyes!

White Peacock, this was the first and only time I’ve seen one! As gorgeous as a peacock is with all their glorious colors, there is something simply beautiful about an all white one!

Thanks for stopping by!

Wild Bird Wednesday – Flamingos

Okay, so they might not exactly be “wild”, as they live at Sea World, but Flamingos are one of my favorite birds. Flamingos make me think of summer!

Flamingos are found in warm, watery areas of many countries. They have long curved necks with black tipped bills that bend downward. This bill helps them feed on small fish, plankton, etc. Their webbed feet help stir up the bottom of the shallow waters in which they feed. They eat by burying their bills and sucking in the water and mud. They have a filterlike structure in their beak that “strains” the food from the water, which is expelled.
Their pink color comes from shrimplike crustaceans. Babies are born gray and white, the pink color takes about two years to develop.
Flamingos are usually found in flocks, as they find safety in numbers since they spend so much time with their head down in the mud!

Birds of Florida – Wild Bird Wednesday

One of the things I miss about living in Florida is the abundance of different wildlife. Here in Pennsylvania where I live, the wildlife is pretty basic. I need to go “into the woods” to find more exciting species. As I don’t have much time to get back to nature most of my photos are of the birds and squirrels that visit my patio!

As I just stumbled upon this meme, I am not prepared with any new photos, so I am going to take a trip back to one of our visits to Black Pointe Wildlife Refuge in Florida. This was about a 45 minute drive from our home and we visited quite often. It was a nice “Sunday drive”.

Laugh at the Sky

Somewhere Over the Rainbow

We have been having a great deal of rain here in SE Pennsylvania the past couple of weeks after a very dry winter. This week we’ve even had afternoon thunderstorms. Afternoon thunderstorms remind me of Florida and RAINBOWS. I don’t see them as often here as we did in FL, so I decided to share a Florida Rainbow today!

ABC and Watery Wednesday, MId Week Blues too. – Cocoa Beach

We are in the midst of a storm here in the Philadelphia suburbs that has encased us in ice.  What a winter we have had…. so for today, I would like to transport us to a place that is warm, watery, blue and starts with the letter C!

COCOA BEACH, FL.  When Tara and I lived in Orlando we were about 45 minutes from the beach.

Stop by the above blogs and check out what everyone is sharing this week.  In particular Rebecca is starting a new Project 64….. can you guess what it is?  Very cool, but you will have to visit her to see!

Friday Evening Treat – Ice Cream

Tara and I both had a late lunch at Long John Silver today, so neither of us were really hungry for dinner, which was good, since I really didn’t feel like cooking, nor do I really have much on hand to make a meal…. I had tilapia platter that was pretty tasty, grilled fish instead of the normal fried fare.

Anyway, we had decided against going to see my boyfriend (don’t I wish) The Rock in Return from Witch Mtn this evening, so I had settled in to relax and watch an episode of Clean House… all the while my house will soon be a candidate for the show, if I don’t find some time to clean. I keep telling myself I will not be working in just 2 weeks, I’ll have lots of time to clean, but I don’t think I will be able to stand it by then. The dishwasher is full, and there is not a plate in the cabinet, nor is there a piece of flat ware…we are down to the Christmas and Halloween themed cups…. I need to go to the store to get DISHWASHER DETERGENT. I am not unloading it and washing them by hand. Everything piece of clothing Tara asks for is in the laundry (one load is washed, just not dried).

Back to the story. Tara came out and asked me if we could go to Twistee Twirl (really Twistee Treat) and get her fav German Choc soft ice cream, with choc chips. I quickly said yes (she was surprised), and off we went. This little ice cream place is great. It is about 12 miles from our house, but totally worth the drive, and they have DRIVE THRU! This is a great feature when coming back from the beach, or if you run out in clothes you really don’t want to be seen by.

They have 24 flavors of soft ice cream….

After we were done there, we continued east on Rt 50… we saw smoke from what we expected was a brush fire, as they are popping up all over again this spring. Dry dry, breezy conditions, and people being careless with cigarette butts, etc.
We stopped and said hi to our friends the black bears at Jungle Adventure, but they must have been waiting for dinner, they were pacing and we could not get a picture. I then decided to go down a side road I had never been down, and we quickly were transported from busy Rt 50, to a quiet country road, with houses far apart, cows and horses and open fields. Here’s one picture that I really liked (I took a few others that I some how deleted off the card before I uploaded them!)
The sun was setting behind me, so there is a nice glow on the trees.

We drove for a bit, and found where the fire was. It looked like there had been other brush fires recently in the same area. Fortunately it is not developed land. We headed back toward home.

I need to go back and take new shots of a couple of the things I erased.. they were cool! There is a Tosohatchee Wildlife Mgt area is back there, so I think we will head back there to spend sometime with nature tomorrow.
