Alphabe-Thursday – Beaches

At the beach, life is different. Time doesn’t move hour to hour but mood to moment. We live by the currents, plan by the tides, and follow the sun.” – Unknown

Ocean City Blues

Today, my last full day off while Tara is still in school, did not go as planned. My plan was to get a bunch of blog posts ready and scheduled to auto post during the next few days.

One thing lead to another, and here it is 9:30pm, and I haven’t even gotten up a post for Mid Week Blues!

I’m feeling the pull of the ocean, we will have to take a day trip real soon to the beach. It is not quite the same since my Aunt Alice passed away in 2010, as we usually spent our time at her shore house. Aunt Alice was loved and is missed by so many! OCNJ is just not the same! I was thankful that we made a point of having this photo taken while we were all together. All though some family members were less than cooperative! Aunt Alice is 2nd row 2nd from the right next to my Mom.

These pictures are from a trip we took in 2009 while my brother and his family were there as well. We had not seen them the entire time we lived in Florida! It was a memorable trip!

To tie in with Rebecca’s quote… A BAD day at the beach is better than ANY day at work!

Here is the shore house on Park Place and the beach.

Wild and Crazy, NOT!

Wow, we are halfway through August and 30 Days About Me! Time is flying much too fast.
If you haven’t been following along, I’ve been participating in 30 Days about Me, hosted by Toni.

Day 16- Who Do You Do the Most Crazy Things With OR What is the Most Crazy Thing You’ve Done?

30 Days About Me

I don’t really think of myself as the “wild and crazy” kind of girl. I mean when I was younger, I had my moments, but of late, not so much.

I think becoming a mom, a single mom at that has made me a more cautious person. I’ve never really been much of a daredevil either, so no bungee jumping, sky diving or wrestling alligators for me!

Some might say packing up and moving to Orlando 10 weeks after my first visit there was crazy. I did that in 2003. Tara and I moved 1000 miles from all our friends and family just because, we could. We had a great six year adventure living near the “House of the Mouse”. We moved back home to PA six years and 4 days later to be back closer to family. (Some family events over the past three weeks make me question that decision at times!)

We’ve had some “memorable” adventures. Those that people would say, I would never have thought to do that.

The two that come to my mind involve Tropical Storms, coincidentally, both beginning with the letter “E”. Ernesto and Earl!

We went to Magic Kingdom during Tropical Storm Ernesto (8/30/2006). We lived less than an hour from the parks, Tara’s school was closed, and I worked at home. The rains weren’t too bad, so we decided to head over and have dinner and see what else we could do. We had the park almost to ourselves and had a good four hours before the storm started to get bad.
Adventureland - TS Ernesto
Last year, we headed to Ocean City, NJ during Tropical Storm Earl. We wanted to be close to the ocean, to see the waves. We had a great day! (9/3/2010)

So, are you wild and crazy? What was the craziest thing you have done?

Mellow Yellow Monday – Boardwalk Treats

MellowYellowMondayBadge

Summer is coming to an end, the days are shorter and a morning chill in the air, but I can still smell the wonderful aromas of all the treats on the boardwalk when I look at this picture.

Shadow Shot Sunday #121

Shadow Shot Sunday is hosted by Hey Harriet.

We took another day trip “down the shore” yesterday, instead of hurrican-ish weather, we had a perfect beach day – not too hot, not too humid and a crisp clear blue sky.  Unbeknownst to me, there was a car show on the boardwalk.

I took this picture of this pretty green car…. and when I looked at it on the computer, I realized that totally by chance, I got an awesome (at least I think so) shadow in the picture.  Do you see it yet?  Look on the white hood!

Summer is coming to an end…

and hopefully I will have more time to blog, take pictures, and visit my blog friends.  Once Tara is back in school (Tues) and the pool I have been taking care of for the summer is closed (9/13), I will be finding time for all of the above!

Until then, I leave you with a photo taken Friday in Ocean City, NJ.  Tara and I took a road trip (it is just about 2 hrs from home) to effects of the Hurricane Earl on the surf.  We had a great day, and all in all, considering there was a hurricane off the coast, it was a rather nice day – although the ocean was “closed”.

Check out my YUMMY Tuscan Bean Soup with Sausage recipe over at tHe KrAzy kitchen. I know it’s a little HOT most places right now to really be thinking about soup, but I was so glad I tried it last week, it is yummy just warmed enough to take the chill off when eating as leftovers!

Have a great day!
