Towamencin Sunset

Out for an evening drive on Monday I witnessed this beautiful sunset!

Each morning sees some task begun, each evening sees it close; Something attempted, something done, has earned a night’s repose.

Laugh at the Sky

When you realize how perfect everything is you will tilt your head back and laugh at the sky. ~Buddha

Sunset in Orlando.
I took this in my neighborhood when we lived in Orlando.

Stoney Creek Sunset

I took this on Wednesday evening while Tara and I were out for a walk. It was a beautiful evening, I wish we could have a whole summer of evenings just like this one!

Stoney Creek park is a small park run by the borough of Lansdale. There is a labyrinth path, as well as other walking paths. The park includes a gazebo, man made pond and great playground!

Skywatch Friday – DIsney Hollywood Studios -Tower of Terror

I’ve been taking my readers on a tour of Disney’s Hollywood (DHS) Studios all week through the various memes in which I participate. I will continue here today for Sky Watch Friday.

Check out Monday, Tuesday, Wed & Thursday for other shots around DHS!

TOWER OF TERROR – Hotel Hollywood!
These photos were taken as the sun was setting on September evening.

A ride on the “fright elevator” beyond the eerie boiler room in the hotel basement could be down, then up, or maybe down again, or up and up—every experience is different and randomly selected by the Tower itself. There’s no way of knowing which direction you’ll go on the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.
Tower of Terror is a decent Disney movie from 1997 with Steve Guttenberg, Kirsten Dunst and Nia Pepples. If you want a good family flick for a Friday night… pick this one up at your local video store, it ‘explains’ the ride!

Edited to add – I just realized that not EVERYONE knows what the Tower of Terror is! This is a ride in which you go up near the top of this building in an elevator, the whole queue line is themed like an old dusty hotel from 1939. Once you are at the top, you are loaded into another “elevator” car in which you sit with many other riders. Then you go down, BUT, it is an elevator out of control, and you never know how far you will fall on each drop! Every now and then the doors in front of you open and you can see the outside.

I personally rode this only once. I’m not a thrill rider. As far as rides go it was not too bad, but for Tara and I it was never worth the usual long wait. The themeing inside is very cool, so I was glad we did it once. (Tara actually rode it another time with friends!)

Here is the front side of the building. You can see it looks scorched. As part of the story, the hotel was hit by lightning. If you look under the word “hotel” you will see the doors that open depending on where the ride drops.

I took this last Saturday evening. Tara and I had run out and I did not have my camera, but luckily she had her little Nikon Coolpix S560 (Yes, we are a mixed brand family!)

Sunset taken from my backyard 3/9/2006. I had recently gotten my then new Canon S2-IS, and let the dog out one evening and saw the beautiful setting sun, so of course I ran to get my camera. I had to zoom in a bit as I was shooting between the two houses behind me. The color was spectacular, and if you look closely to the left of the sun, you will see I captured a plane as well. It looks like it is flying out of the sun.
